Works Cited
According to the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL), each entry on the Works Cited should have the following information, including punctuation, in the following order:

  1. Author.
  2. Title of source.
  3. Title of container,
  4. Other contributors,
  5. Version,
  6. Number,
  7. Publisher,
  8. Publication date,
  9. Location.
In-Text Citations
Once your Works Cited is established, you will be able to select the correct information to include in the in-text citations. NoodleTools can help you with both!

  • The first piece of information in the Works Cited is what you use in your in-text citation
  • Place the in-text citation as close to the quote or paraphrased information as possible, usually at the end of the sentence.
  • Put the in-text citation before the punctuation mark (period, question mark, etc.).
  • You do not need to cite common knowledge. This choice may change depending on your audience.
